NewsCosta: What I値l Do With The Dough
The NSW Labor Council would establish a Recruitment and Campaigning Committee to make strategic decisions on how best to spend the $200,000.generated from the Currawong deal.
Secretary Michael Costa has vowed to establish the cross-factional committee if the Currawong proposal is approved. Options for the money would be evaluated annually, with specific sectors or types of workers targetted. The Trade Union Training Authority would be invited to play a central role in generating campaigns, increasing its effectiveness. "Many unions bemoan the fact that we just don't have the resources to do our job properly," Mr Costa said. "By tying this money to recruitment, we are saying that we want to use Currawong to ensure the union movement's survival. "The option of sitting back and allowing a select few to continue to take their cheap holidays while the movement collapses, as just not an option."
