Fair Go Gone
Employers in the land rejoice, for we are girt by greed.
Where has Australia's fair go gone?
Where has Australia's fair go gone
since Messrs Right screwed the world
gone into laissez-fair where foxes roam
and workers' entitlements are game for all.
Where have young apprentices gone
and the developing of skills on the go
gone to jungles of shift cheap labour
where accidents take their toll .
Where has the 8-hours labour gone
the respite, the play, the applause
gone to the heap of casualisation
and slave-driven factories off-shore.
Where has the annual leave gone
the earned carefree days of before
gone to the trade-offs as a remedy
for a bit of security and certainty.
Where has workplace safety gone
the shield of sunrays and comfort
gone to the trade-offs obsequiously
with penalty rates and many more.
Where has collective bargaining gone
mateship, unity, respect and status
gone to the foxes' game and gain
by courtesy of Messrs Right and Co.
Where have all the unions gone
the brave defenders of the workforce
gone tackling the wilds of deregulation
outsourcing and globalization.
Where have Messrs Right gone
and their humbug rule of the world
gone into the scraps of history
with cloven-hoofed years in their record.
