NewsIT Workers Alliance – Last Call for Comment
There's just one week left for IT workers to give their ideas on the sort of collective structure that would work for them. Labor Council has been seeking feedback as they design the first specialist website for IT workers, under the auspices of the IT Workers Alliance. The site would provide information and services for existing union embers employed in the industry, as well as highlighting the advantages of collective action to a sector that is not heavily unionized. Affiliates including MEAA, APESMA, the SDA and ASU Services Division have been involved in the steering committee, but all interested unions are welcome to the next meeting, scheduled for May 24. We've received some excellent suggestions on name, functions and structure and uncovered a few potential activists to drive the new organization.
