Letters to the EditorABC Online Did Strike
I've just been forwarded an email which a colleague received from Workers Online -- and it contains the following paragraph: "At ABC Online, just 20 per cent of employees are organized. When ABC workers went out on strike last week, only four people from the online section walked. The average age is mid-20s." That is, I'm pleased to say, not in the least bit true, for *my* ABC Online office -- there were only two people who remained in the office in Ultimo, Sydney, and some of the people out on strike were senior managers. They probably meant ABC Online News in Brisbane. I can't answer for them, but they're presumably MEAA-covered positions, whereas a lot of us here are joint coverage/CPSU. A majority of staff in our Southbank, Melbourne, headquarters also went out on strike. John Horner Network Developer, ABC Online P.S. I'm 36. I think I'm more like the average age around here...
