Letters to the EditorRail commuter warns pollies
Having just endured another breakdown on the rail system here in Sydney (Friday 28th July, Illawarra line) I believe it is most important to note that this time the reaction of the commuters was decidedly different. The announcements of a train broken down were greeted with laughter and there was no hostility to rail staff on the trains or stations. Instead, there was a determination of a more dangerous political nature. Any comments I heard were directed squarely at the Government. Those MP's along the commuter lines must take note. The passengers were clear that the responsibility for this mess must be at the top of the organisation and a failure to act would be political suicide for the Labor Government and Scully, in particular.
