NewsEmployers Fail to Defy History
The NSW Employers Federation have maintained their tradition of opposing every safety net wage rise in history, arguing against the $15 awarded to federal workers flowing onto NSW despite the boom conditions in the state.
The Federation will be a lone voice of dissent when the State Wage Case commences in Wollongong, to consider the flow-on of the Living Wage principles handed down last week in the Australian industrial relations Commission. While other employer groups accept the flow-on, the Employers Federation says it is opposed "to any general wage rise that is not linked to productivity". They do however acknowledge that the Commission must adopt national decisions unless satisfied that it is not consistent with the objects of the Act. The hearing commences 2pm Monday and is expecting to be finished by Tuesday.
