Redundancy Bonus for Members Only
A $300,000 redundancy payment negotiated for workers at a failed Melbourne rope factory will flow through to union members only.
In a development on the service fee debate, the Australian Workers Union has negotiated an ex gratia payment for its 90 members at Kinnears, which closed its doors this week.

Tax Office Backs CFMEU Case
The Australian Tax Office has vindicated union claims of widespread building industry tax avoidance, phoenixing and workers comp rorts in a submission to the Cole Royal Commission.
The submission, that directly contradicts assertions by Royal Commission architect Tony Abbott that �there is no evidence that tax evasion is more prevalent in this industry than others� was lodged this week. [full story]
Lib MP Named in Cole Commission
A Federal Liberal MP has been named in the Cole Royal Commission, accused of interfering in South Coast building industry contracts.
The Cole Royal Commission this week heard evidence that Joanna Gash was a central player in an anti-union crusade which South Coast Labor Council secretary Arthur Rorris said had built a �climate of fear� in the Shoalhaven region. [full story]
Sentencing Guidelines for Safety Breaches
The Carr Government should develop sentencing guidelines for workplace safety prosecutions based on those in place for some crimes, the NSW Labor Council will tell this week's Safety Summit.
