NewsThe Aged Care Monster
Eye-popping Bronny-on-a-stick masks will be popping up all over the place during the Federal election campaign. Five thousand masks are being used by LHMU Aged Care Union members to promote their important role in caring for Australia's aged. " Aged care workers concerned about the axe falling on quality care for residents, the continuing crisis of bed shortages and poor pay and conditions launched the LHMU's Aged Care election policy in Brisbane today," Cheryl Hyde, the LHMU Assistant National Secretary said. The Bronny masks are set to sprout on the front lawns of a number of prominent aged care centres in Western Australia, South Australia, Queensland, the Northern Territory and the ACT - the states where the LHMU is the dominant Aged Care Union with more than 10,000 members. " Our aim is to focus attention on how John Howard and Aged Care Minister Bronwyn Bishop have failed older Australians," Cheryl Hyde said. " While Bronny-on-a- stick will be everywhere during the election, as usual, it will be hard to find a bed for our elderly Australians because of the failures of John Howard's aged care policy."
